People who attend our church come from all different experiences and backgrounds.

Some come from Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist and other churches. Others come with no church or religious background at all. Suddenly, they find themselves at a Baptist Church.  

What does that mean?

Many have identified the Baptist church by its common stereotypes, but we can assure you that the Grandview family is not your stereotypical church. 

We are unique.

We believe church should be fun and exciting, yet without compromising the truth of God’s Word, the Bible. We are a Christian, evangelical church—a church whose primary purpose is to share the good news of Jesus Christ. 

A Church that believes that God dwells in Worship, Prayer & in His Word and He still speaks to us and continues to do miracles and life change today.

Our Mission at Grandview Christian Center

The followers of Jesus went to him and said, “Master, teach us to pray…(they didn’t ask for the key to heal, or the secret to multiply meals, or raise the dead. They wanted to touch the heart of God, through prayer) So Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew 6, he teaches them and us some details of praying:

“Your kingdom come,”

He is simply saying that God will be in control forever or until the end of time. That God is currently in charge and always will be.

“Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”

We are making a declaration or commitment to God that we will obey His desires or wishes on Earth, or that whatever is happening in heaven, will also happen here on Earth.

So as Grandview Church, we believe it boils down to three simple words:

BECOME

So everything that we do, revolves around these three basic elements. We are a simple, bullet focused Church that we trust God will use to grow and impact His Kingdom by applying these three words.

Here is how we flush it out in our Church:

Belong

(WHY)

In Romans 1:6, Paul greets the church in Rome by saying, “including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.” The entirety of the Scriptures shouts to the world that we belong to God. In the beginning, humanity was created to be in perfect union with God and belong to Him, for we are His creation (Genesis 1:26). There is an intimacy that was always part of His original design for our relationship with Him. We are His masterpiece and reflect the image of God in this world (Ephesians 2:10). Christ’s motivation to bring us back to Himself is the very premise of the incarnation. God came down and entered into the muck and mire of this world. Why? Because we belong to Him.

(HOW)

We BELONG by knowing God

 We create Weekend Services that lost people love to attend.

Luke 15:7 (NIV) I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

(GOAL)

Reaching the lost is our primary purpose.

We create Church Services that both unchurched people and Christians love to attend.

Acts 15:19 “It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.”

Believe

(WHY)

In John’s Gospel, he says, “Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name” (John 20:30-31). For every man, woman, and child, the primary role of the Gospels is to present the person of Christ with the most considerable amount of evidence possible. No message or movement in all history has had an impact like the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In Romans 1:16, Paul says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” For Christ alone is the only perfectly qualified individual in all of history that can forgive sin and meet all the requirements of His divine standard.

(HOW)

Find Freedom when we BELIEVE and we realize who we are and who God is.

 Through small Groups where people can experience community, find freedom and believe. The core outcome of belief is to align and identify oneself with Christ. Belief is all about deeply scriptural ministry rooted in the truth of God’s word and in the power of the gospel. Our small group Bible Studies solidify what we believe.

“But what about you?” He asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” When it comes to belief, there’s the opinion of the crowd that will no doubt influence the perspective of many. However, Jesus makes a b-line to the crux of the issue, for each person must decide on their own if they believe Jesus to be the Messiah, the Son of the living God. As it was with the disciples, so it is for every person.

(GOAL)

Real life change happens when we live out what we actually believe in. In our Home, school, work and in the context of relationships, people around us will be attracted to the grace and Love of Christ because they see that in us.

(Acts 4:13) …they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

Become

(WHY)

Paul expresses the idea of becoming to the believers in Corinth. In 2 Corinthians 3:18, Paul says, “And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” Paul also expresses a similar idea to the church in Rome. Paul says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:2, NIV). In the Scriptures, there is an expectation that every believer is in the process of becoming. There is a divine metamorphosis and a transformation that occurs as each experiential moment of our sanctification helps to refine us into a perfect image of Jesus.

(HOW)

Discover Purpose & make a difference 

We provide practical and relevant information on how people can connect to our church and discover their spiritual gifts. Then by using their gifts, they discover how to make an impact ‘on earth, as it is in heaven’

(GOAL)

That’s why Jesus sent His disciples out of the classroom and into the world. The Christian life and every believer’s becoming is more than the culmination of countless hours of theory and simulation. It must be balanced by daily practice in the context of reality. The disciples needed to experience it. They needed to see, first hand the power of Christ. Luke 10:1-23 shows us an example of the methodology of Christ. Jesus believed in getting outside of a simulation environment. Jesus sends out seventy-two disciples in pairs of two to each of the places that He was about to go.

He gives them specific instructions to guide their habits and behavior. When they returned, they were filled with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” But, Jesus corrected their observation and amplified their thinking by saying, “He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in Heaven (NIV).” This experience is a valuable teachable moment between the disciples and Jesus. That’s how God does some of His best and most memorable work in the lives of people. From the belly of a great fish (Jonah 1:17), to a burning bush (Exodus 3), to the seventy-two disciples being sent out.

Cover to cover, the Bible gives examples of these three components (Belong, Believe, and Become) appearing over and over again. From creation to the incarnation and Jesus calling His disciples these themes are evident. From doubting Thomas finding belief only after he had first belonged (relational proximity to Jesus) to Peter, having been reinstated after the grievous sin of denying Christ three times so that he could become the leader of the Church—we can see the foundation of spiritual resilience being formed.

These three simple three words carry a HUGE and profound work for Grandview Christian Center.

Again, everything we do, must be geared by these three simple words. To get to our end result “On earth (Grandview) as it is in Heaven…” we go through some practical steps

THE BIBLE

The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. The Bible is inspired by God and is the truth without any mixture of error. It is the sole authority for life.

GOD

There is one God. He is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He eternally exists in three personalities: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and one. He is perfect in His many attributes of holiness, love, power, knowledge, justice and mercy.

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is God’s Son. He is co-equal with the Father. He is both God and man. He was born of a virgin. He lived a sinless, human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of His people by dying on a cross. He died to become a substitutionary atonement for the sins of His people. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords.

HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is the divine helper, assistant, counselor and instructor. He is present in the world to make man aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.

SALVATION

Salvation is God’s free gift to us. We receive this gift through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone. Repentance means turning away from our sin and turning toward Christ. Faith means trusting in Christ alone for the forgiveness of our sins. When we place our faith in Jesus Christ, His perfect obedience is credited to us so that God sees us as the righteousness of Christ. Every person who truly is saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ and will spend eternity in heaven, while those who die in their sins will spend eternity in Hell separated from God.

HUMANITY

Humans are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. As the supreme object of God’s creation, we were designed for dignity. However, Adam’s sin catapulted the creation into a fallen state and plunged all his descendants into depravity. Thus, all of us are marred by rebellion and disobedience, which is called “sin,” toward God. Sin separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

ETERNAL SECURITY

God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ. If you have made a genuine commitment of faith in Jesus, you cannot lose your salvation. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. God’s grace and power enable us to persevere in faith until the end.

ETERNITY

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

LORD’S SUPPER /

COMMUNION

The Lord’s Supper is an ordinance of the church. It was instituted when the Lord had the Passover meal before His crucifixion. We observe the Lord’s Supper on a regular basis in remembrance of Jesus Christ’s atonement for our sins. It is a proclamation of His death and an assurance of His second coming. We ask only those who have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ to participate in the Lord’s Supper. The elements of bread and grape juice are used as symbols of Christ’s body that was broken and His blood that was shed in payment for our sins. We believe that when we take communion, something supernatural happens (whatever we do in the natural always affects the Spiritual).

BAPTISM

Baptism is a picture and an illustration—a symbolic act. Baptism by immersion best illustrates the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ on our behalf and our subsequent faith in Him. It is not necessary for salvation but is an act of obedience and is strongly associated with salvation, as it best demonstrates our new identity with Jesus Christ.

We believe in believer’s baptism. A person must first exercise faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for their sins, was buried and rose from the dead. An infant or person who does not understand God’s plan of salvation cannot make that kind of commitment. The Scriptural order is belief first, followed by baptism. Baptism is limited to those who have personally believed in Jesus Christ as Savior.

CHURCH GOVERNMENT

We believe in the local autonomy of the church. Each church has the right to manage its affairs with no central authority except that of Christ Himself. Freedom does not rule out cooperation. We are a cooperating church with the Southern Baptist Convention. This means that we cooperate with other Baptist churches in pooling and sharing money for the support of missionaries and ministries at home and around the world. This plan is called the Cooperative Program.

Acts 15

ACCESS TO GOD

Each person is able to come to God for himself or herself. There is no need for a third party to tell a person how to pray, how to interpret Scriptures or how to vote in church. All believers are ministers of God. Therefore, the evangelical church does not have a distinctive class of priests. All members are made “priests unto God” by the death of Christ. There is only one mediator between God and man, and that is Jesus Christ.
